Merz Aesthetics announced today its partnership with Bee Downtown, a North Carolina-based company that installs and professionally manages honeybee hives on corporate campuses across the country.
Through Bee Downtown’s Corporate Hive program, multiple beehives have been installed at Merz Aesthetics’ Raleigh headquarters, creating an on-campus apiary that supports local pollinator populations, biodiversity and employee education. The program will offer employees year-round educational experiences, guided hive tours and honey tastings, with Bee Downtown’s professional beekeeping expertise ensuring the ongoing well-being of the bee colonies.
The partnership reflects Merz Aesthetics’ commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship and meaningful employee experiences. The new on-campus apiary will help support local biodiversity while giving employees an accessible, firsthand way to learn about the vital role honeybees play as pollinators in supporting healthy ecosystems.
In collaboration with local artisan Taylor Williams, Merz Aesthetics commissioned two custom-designed beehives that celebrate both the company’s North Carolina headquarters and global footprint. Inspired by colors in the product portfolio, the designs celebrate North Carolina’s honeybees and incorporate four flowers representing Merz Aesthetics’ global regions. A playful nod to the company’s tagline, “Confidence to Bee!” adds a distinctive finishing touch.

Ensuring safety for people and pollinators
To ensure the safety of both the bees and Merz Aesthetics employees, the hives sit in marked, restricted-access areas away from workspaces, and employees can visit them only on guided, voluntary tours with protective gear Bee Downtown develops their own queen bees, providing established colonies to partner campuses to ensure calm, healthy bees are joining the community. Its senior beekeepers average more than 10 years of experience.
Campus honey to be shared with employees
A single Bee Downtown colony typically produces between 30 and 90 pounds of honey each year, depending on weather and other environmental conditions. In 2026, 110 Bee Downtown colonies produced over 100 pounds of honey and 11 produced over 200 pounds! Merz Aesthetics will share its campus honey with employees through tastings and events throughout the program.
